April 21

Can't get enough of our frontage!! The view from Flora, an extremely popular restaurant across the street.

The City of Oakland is planning on widening all the sidewalks, planting more trees, and getting rid of a lane of traffic to make a more pedestrian friendly strip. It's truly exciting to be part of the rejuvenation of the area. Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe, a hip late night diner owned in part by one of the guys from Green Day, is planning on opening next to us (in the unused part of the Fox Theater) in mid-May.

They're putting the terrazzo on the pony wall, gonna look great!

And getting close to finished framing out the bathrooms!!

April 20

Gonna be awesome!!

Bathrooms being framed by Nate and Louis.

And supposedly the Landlord's contractor has finally settled on someone to fill the hole in the patio! Only took a month to get a bid for that, good work!!

April 19

After several years of residence, the "temporary" security grills come down!

Framing for the window/facade is near complete.

And by the end of the day, we have our patio!!! The plywood is a new temporary security-it will eventually be replaced by the glass facade.

A great feeling to see the size and shape of the patio-it's bound to be a boon for the neighborhood, and for us!

And we have an office framed out. This is a fun phase, honing in on the final structure of the unit!!

Our Framing begins!

April 13

Paneling on pony wall, rear entry floor chipped/soffit installed, 2 hour fire wall done, and sheet rock up on frontage!

April 7

2 Hour Firewall going up, rear entrance being chipped out of the floor, City workers painting over the tags that have already gone up on the plywood walls, and relaxing after a hard day's planning.

April 6

Spray painted bar, bathroom, and office layouts on the floor, stud frame for frontage completed, all supervised by a pigeon who has decided to roost in one of the holes in the columns.

April 4

Came up with our plan on how to deal with the concrete hole in the entrance, it's a good one! Debated it whilst admiring the framing for our frontage, now installed on the ceiling.

March 31

Our Pony Wall is built. We can get the idea of the flow of the front-the new, low wall will be plated with terrizo tiles, to match the existing terrizo trim around the rest of the building. And the planter is installed! I've already planned my succulent garden, very exciting!!
